Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration [SIRVA] Lawsuit: Did You (or a Loved One) Suffer From SIRVA or Shoulder Injury After Receiving a Vaccine Shot?

Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration SIRVA Lawsuit lawsuit case settlement claim

If you or a loved one suffered shoulder injury or SIRVA after receiving a vaccine shot, you may be entitled to compensation from a vaccine SIRVA shoulder injury lawsuit case or settlement claim.

A team of drug injury attorneys and vaccine injury lawyers is investigating potential vaccine injury lawsuit cases of individuals who suffered shoulder injury or SIRVA after receiving certain vaccines.

Shoulder Injury Related to Vaccine Administration (SIRVA) is an injury to the shoulder that can occur after the administration of a vaccine shot in the upper arm due to the unintended injection of vaccine antigen or trauma from the needle into and around the underlying bursa of the shoulder below the deltoid muscle of the arm (a large triangular muscle that extends from the upper arm bone to the collarbone).

SIRVA injuries can arise from the inflammatory reaction and damage to the musculoskeletal structures of the shoulder, including tendons (thick cords that connect muscles to bones), ligaments (tough bands of tissue that connect two bones in a joint) and bursae (fluid-filled sacs that cushion bones, tendons, and muscles), as well as damage to nerves.

SIRVA Shoulder Injury Lawsuit & Settlement Cases

SIRVA shoulder lawsuit and settlement cases potentially being investigated include claims of individuals who, after receiving certain vaccines, suffered shoulder injury, including the following:

  • Shoulder injury related to vaccine administration (SIRVA)
  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
  • Brachial neuritis
  • Deltoid bursitis
  • Shoulder bursitis
  • Tendinitis
  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
  • Rotator cuff injury
  • Impingement syndrome
  • Other SIRVA shoulder injury lawsuit cases

Individuals with SIRVA shoulder injuries may qualify to receive compensation for SIRVA-related claims under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP). In fact, SIRVA has been the most common injury awarded compensation by the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.

Vaccine Shoulder Injury Claims

Vaccine shoulder injury claims potentially being investigated include cases of individuals who suffered shoulder complications and injuries after getting vaccinated with certain vaccines, including:

  • Seasonal influena vaccine
  • Flu shot
  • Haemophilus influenza type b polysaccharide conjugate vaccines
  • Hepatitis A vaccine
  • Hepatitis B vaccine
  • HPV vaccine
  • Gardasil vaccine lawsuit
  • Measles vaccine
  • Mumps vaccine
  • Meningococcal vaccine
  • Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine
  • Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine
  • Polio vaccine (IPV)
  • Diphtheria vaccine

Signs and Symptoms of SIRVA

SIRVA symptoms and signs can include the following:

  • Shoulder pain
  • Arm pain
  • Pain in back or shoulder blade area
  • Pain in neck
  • Decreased range of motion
  • Sharp pain in shoulder area
  • Dull or achey pain in shoulder area
  • Pain during certain movements
  • Constant pain near shoulder
  • Muscle tightness or tension
  • Weakness
  • Tenderness
  • Swelling of shoulder
  • Redness in shoulder area
  • Inflammation
  • Loss of use of the shoulder
  • Inability to do activities or work functions
  • Depression or other mental health symptoms
  • Other SIRVA symptoms

SIRVA symptoms typically start within about 48 hours after receiving a vaccine injection. Some individuals with SIRVA experience chronic symptoms that can last 6 months or more after being vaccinated, while other people with SIRVA have symptoms that never go away.

According to the Vaccine Injury Table, a vaccine recipient is considered to have suffered SIRVA if the recipient has: (i) No history of pain, inflammation or dysfunction of the affected shoulder prior to intramuscular vaccine administration that would explain the signs, symptoms, examination findings, and/or diagnostic studies occurring after vaccine injection; (ii) Pain occurs within the specified time-frame; (iii) Pain and reduced range of motion are limited to the shoulder in which the intramuscular vaccine was administered; and (iv) No other condition or abnormality is present that would explain the patient’s symptoms (e.g. NCS/EMG or clinical evidence of radiculopathy, brachial neuritis, mononeuropathies, or any other neuropathy).

SIRVA Treatment

Treatment for shoulder injury related to vaccine administration can include, among other things, surgery (such as such as bursectomy, rotator cuff repair, or joint debridement), steroid injections to reduce inflammation, pain relief medication to reduce pain and inflammation, rest, hot and cold therapy to reduce pain and inflammation, and physical or occupational therapy to improve strength and range of motion of the affected shoulder.

If you or a loved one suffered shoulder injured after being given a vaccine, you may be entitled to recover compensation from a SIRVA or vaccine shoulder injury lawsuit case or settlement claim. Contact a vaccine injury lawyer to request a free case review.
