Tepezza Hearing Loss lawsuit case settlement claim teprotumumab-trbw

If you or a loved one suffered from hearing loss or tinnitus after being given IV infusions of Tepezza (teprotumumab) to treat thyroid eye disease (TED), you may be entitled to recover compensation from a Tepezza hearing loss lawsuit case or settlement claim.

A team of drug injury lawyers and class action attorneys is investigating potential Tepezza hearing loss lawsuit and settlement cases of individuals who suffered from hearing loss and/or tinnitus after receiving IV infusions of Tepezza (teprotumumab) to treat thyroid eye disease.

Tepezza (teprotumumab-trbw) is a prescription medication given intravenously (IV) via infusions to treat thyroid eye disease (TED), an autoimmune disorder often associated with hyperthyroidism diseases (such as Graves’ eye disease, Graves’ Ophthalmopathy or Graves’ Orbitopathy) that causes inflammation and damage to tissues around the eye, including connective tissue, fatty tissue and muscles.

Unfortunately, patients treated with Tepezza may potentially be at an increased risk of developing serious and potentially irreversible hearing issues, including hearing loss and/or tinnitus.

Tepezza Hearing Loss Lawsuit & Settlement Cases

Tepezza lawsuit and settlement cases potentially being investigated include claims of individuals who, after receiving Tepezza IV infusions, suffered from hearing loss including the following:

  • Permanent hearing loss (sensorineural hearing loss)
  • Partial hearing loss (hypoacusis)
  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
  • Autophony (hearing own voice too loud or echoing)
  • Difficulty hearing
  • Ear plugging sensation
  • Clicking and popping sounds
  • Muffled sounds
  • Deafness
  • Sensitivity to certain sounds (hyperacusis)
  • Eustachian tube dysfunction
  • Other hearing issues or side effects
  • Other Tepezza lawsuit cases

The Tepezza lawsuits filed in federal court have been consolidated or transferred into a multi-district litigation or MDL for consolidation and coordination of pretrial proceedings, styled In Re: Tepezza Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation, MDL Case No. 3079, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Judge Thomas M. Durkin). Horizon Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc. and Horizon Theraputics USA, Inc. were named as Defendants in the Tepezza lawsuits.

The Tepezza lawsuit complaints allege, among other things, that patients, the medical community, and prescribers were not adequately warned or instructed that Tepezza may be associated with permanent hearing loss and/or tinnitus and that patients receiving Tepezza should undergo regular audiological testing to detect hearing loss.

Tepezza Hearing Loss Injury Claims

According to a March 2021 study published in the Journal of the Endocrine Society, 65 percent of patients in the study who were treated with Tepezza complained of otologic symptoms, such as hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), ear plugging sensation, and/or autophony (an unusually loud hearing of a person’s own voice).

Similarly, according to a February 2022 study published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology, 81.5 percent of patients in the study who were treated with teprotumumab reported suffering from new otologic symptoms after an average of 3.8 teprotumumab infusions.
