Roundup is a non-selective herbicide designed to kill all plants or weeds in an application area (i.e., it does not distinguish between species ). Who May Qualify for a Roundup Lymphoma Lawsuit

Individuals may qualify for a Roundup lymphoma lawsuit case or settlement claim if they (or a loved one):

  • Used or Were Exposed To Roundup Herbicide Products: Used, had contact with, inhaled, ingested, or absorbed or otherwise were exposed to one or more Roundup products. Exposure means direct physical contact with Roundup products during their handling or application (inhaled, absorbed, or swallowed them) and includes contact that occurred while they were using the Roundup Products themselves, or while they were close by when someone else was mixing, applying, handling, or transporting them.
  • Suffered Injury or Death From Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma: Suffered injury or death from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a group of cancers that start in white blood cells (lymphocytes), typically within lymph nodes. Eligible NHL include, but are not limited to, aggressive (fast-growing) Non-Hodgkin lymphomas such as Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL), Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma (PTCL), Burkitt lymphoma, Aggressive NK-Cell Leukemia, Mantle cell lymphoma, Mediastinal gray zone lymphoma, Mycosis fungoides, Sezary Syndrome and Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Eligible NHL also include, but are not limited to, indolent (slow-growing) Non-Hodgkin lymphomas such as Follicular Lymphoma, Hairy Cell, Leukemia, and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia/Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma. Other criteria may apply in order to be eligible. Not all individuals or cases qualify for a Roundup lawsuit. Individuals may not qualify if: (1) medical factors or other factors make it difficult to link the injuries to Roundup; (2) they were diagnosed only with multiple myeloma or a leukemia that does not contain “lymphoma,” “lymphocytic,” or “prolymphocytic” in its name (except that qualifying NHLs may include hairy cell leukemia and aggressive NK-cell leukemia); (3) the duration of exposure to Roundup was too short; (4) the amount of time between first exposure to Roundup and diagnosis with lymphoma was not long enough; (5) the claim is outside the statute of limitations or statute of repose period (if an individual waits too long they may be legally barred from suing); and/or (6) medical records do not support the claims. Individuals may not qualify for other reasons.

Roundup Cancer Lawsuit Complaints

Thousands of individuals who claim to have been exposed to Roundup herbicide have filed lawsuits seeking to recover money damages for injuries suffered as a result of their exposure to Roundup weedkiller products. According to the Roundup lawsuit complaints, plaintiffs developed cancer, such as non-Hodgkins lymphoma, after being exposed to Roundup.

The Roundup lawsuit complaints allege that Roundup substantially contributed to and/or caused plaintiffs to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after using Roundup over the course of several or more years. Many plaintiffs also allege that following their non-hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis, they suffered numerous effects attendant to non-hodgkin’s lymphoma such as chemotherapy, blood transfusions and radiation.

Likewise, herbicide/pesticide handlers, sprayers, and applicators may have been exposed to Roundup while mixing or applying pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation, or chemical application on trees, shrubs, lawns, crops, etc.

Roundup Lawsuit & Settlement Updates

Recent updates about Roundup lawsuits and settlements include:

  • May 2026: Roundup lawsuits remain active in federal MDL No. 2741 and in state courts. Bayer/Monsanto has proposed a $7.25 billion Roundup settlement intended to resolve tens of thousands of Roundup non-Hodgkin lymphoma claims, but the settlement remains subject to court approval, objections, opt-outs, and ongoing legal challenges.
  • December 2025: As of December 2, 2025 there were 4,508 Roundup lawsuit claims pending in the Roundup MDL proceedings. In addition to the Roundup MDL, thousands of Roundup cases have been filed in various state courts throughout the country.
  • January 2025: As of January 2, 2025, 4,400 Roundup lawsuit cases were pending in the federal Roundup MDL litigation.

  • October 2024: On October 10, 2024 a jury in Philadelphia awarded $78 million ($3 million in compensatory damages and $75 million in punitive damages) to plaintiff in the Melissen Roundup lawsuit case.

  • January 2024: On January 26, 2024 a jury in the McKivision v. Monsanto trial in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas awarded $2.25 billion ($250 million in compensatory damages and $2 billion in punitive damages) to a Pennsylvania man who claimed his non-Hodgkins’s lymphoma was the result of exposure to Roundup weedkiller. The verdict was later reduced to $400 million.
  • December 2023: On December 5, 2023 a jury in Philadelphia awarded a plaintiff $3,462,500 (comprised of $462,500 in compensatory damages and $3.5 million in punitive damages) in a Roundup cancer lawsuit (Kelly Martel v. Nouryon Chemicals, LLC, Monsanto Company, et al., Case No. 2109-00084, Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas in Pennsylvania) involving a woman who claimed she developed non Hodgkin lymphoma from exposure to Roundup.
  • November 2023: On November 17, 2023 a jury in Jefferson City Missouri awarded three plaintiffs $1.56 billion (consisting of $61.1 million in compensatory damages and $1.5 billion in punitive damages) in a Roundup lawsuit styled as Anderson v. Monsanto, Case No. 22AC-CC00968, Missouri Circuit Court for Cole County, in which it was claimed that years of using Roundup on their lawns and gardens caused them to develop non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. The Roundup verdict was later reduced to $611 million.
  • October 2023: A Roundup lawsuit filed in Missouri state court in the 22nd Judicial Circuit in St. Louis, styled as Durnell vs. Monsanto, Case No. 1922-CC00221, went to trial on October 3, 2023. A jury found in favor of the plaintiff (who claimed he developed cancer from exposure to Roundup) and awarded him $1.25 million. Another Roundup lawsuit filed in state court in Pennsylvania in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, styled as Caranci v. Monsanto, No. 210602213, went to trial on October 5, 2023. On October 27, a jury found in favor of the plaintiff (a retired restaurant owner who claimed his non-Hodgkins lymphoma was due to exposure to Roundup) and awarded him $175 million dollars ($25 million in compensatory damages and $150 million in punitive damages). On October 9, another Roundup trial commenced in San Diego County Superior Court in California, styled as Mike Dennis v. Monsanto Co., Case. No. 37-2021-00047326-CU-PO-NC in which the plaintiff claimed he used Roundup weedkiller on his lawns and gardens, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and that Defendant failed to warn about the health risks of Roundup. On October 31, a jury awarded plaintiff $332 million in damages ($7 million in compensatory damages and $325 million in punitive damages).
  • June/July 2023: Through June 2023 there were approximately 4,200 roundup lawsuit cases still pending in the federal MDL in California. As of July 2023, about 200 Roundup cases were pending in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
  • February 2023: A case management order issued by Judge Fletman in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas selected 12 Roundup cases for trial, begining with the first trial in October.
  • May 2022: According to estimates, Bayer has settled approximately 80% of pending Roundup lawsuits, paying out about $11 billion dollars to resolve about 100,000 Roundup cases. About a hundred Roundup lawsuits against Monsanto in Pennsylvania state court were consolidated in Philadelphia’s Complex Litigation Center by Administrative Judge Lisette Shirdan-Harris.
Older Roundup Lawsuit & Settlement Updates

  • 2020: Bayer proposed a global Roundup settlement of $10.9 billion.

  • 2019: Additional Roundup lawsuits that went to trial in California resulted in jury awards of $2 billion (later reduced to $86.7 million) and $75 million (also reduced to about $20 million).

  • 2018: One of the first Roundup lawsuit cases to go to trial results in a jury award of $289 million dollars.

  • 2017: Roundup lawsuits have been filed in federal and state courts.
