Marginal Zone Lymphoma is a heterogeneous group of B-cell Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphomas that orginate from the cancerous or malignant transformation of marginal zone B-cells (i.e., innate lymphoid cells in the marginal zone or area between the non-lymphoid red pulp and lymphoid white-pulp of the spleen or in other lymphoid tissues).

Marginal zone lymphomas are indolent or slow growing lymphomas and are often associated with chronic inflammation and infection. MZL cancer cases comprise about 8% of all non-hodgkin lymphomas.

Marginal Zone Lymphoma lawsuit claims potentially being investigated include claims of individuals who, after being exposed to pesticides, herbicides or glyphosate containing products such as weedkiller Roundup, were diagnosed with blood cancer including:

  • Marginal zone lymphoma
  • Extranodal MZL or Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue (MALT)
  • MALT lymphoma
  • Extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma
  • Nodal marginal zone lymphoma
  • Monocytoid B-cell lymphoma

Extranodal marginal zone lymphoma or Mucosa-Associated Lymphoid Tissue (MALT) lymphoma are located outside the lymph nodes in areas of the body like the stomach, GI tract, mouth, nasal cavity, pharynx, salivary gland, small intestine, thyroid, breast, skin, lungs and eyes. MALT lymphomas are the most prevalent type of MZL, comprising roughly 70% of all marginal zone lymphoma cases. Nodal marginal zone lymphomas are located within the lymph nodes and comprise approximately 20 percent of all marginal zone lymphoma cases. Splenic marginal zone lymphomas are located in the spleen, blood or bone marrow and account for roughly 10 percent of all MZL diagnoses.
