If you or a loved one were diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma after being exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune, you may be entitled to recover compensation from a Camp Lejeune Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma lawsuit case or settlement claim.

A team of Camp Lejeune injury attorneys and class action lawyers is investigating potential lawsuit cases and settlement claims of individuals who were diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma after being exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base.

Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma is a group of cancers of the immune system that begin in the body’s lymphatic system when white blood cells (lymphocytes) mutate and become abnormal and form growths (tumors) that spread throughout the body. The American Cancer Society has estimated that more than 80,000 new Non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases are diagnosed each year in the U.S. and more than 20,000 people are estimated to die from Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

According to the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), contaminants in the water at Camp Lejeune may be associated with an increased risk of developing Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Camp Lejeune Lymphoma Injury Cases

Various studies have reported a potential link between the contaminants found in the water at Camp Lejeune and non-hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL).

For instance, according to the EPA Toxicological Review of TCE (EPA 2011): “The human evidence of carcinogenicity from epidemiologic studies of TCE exposure [Trichloroethylene is one of the chemicals found in the water at Camp Lejeune] is strong for NHL…” and “Associations observed in epidemiologic studies of lymphoma and TCE exposure suggest a causal relation between TCE exposure and NHL.” Similarly, according to the IARC review of TCE (IARC 2014), TCE exposure increased the risk of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma,

Likewise, according to the EPA Toxicological Review of PCE (EPA 2012): “The results from the collection of studies pertaining to non-Hodgkin lymphoma indicate an elevated risk associated with tetrachloroethylene exposure [tetrachloroethylene or PCE is another one of the chemicals found in Camp Lejeune’s water].”

In addition, according to the IARC review of benzene (IARC 2012), a positive association exists between exposure to benzene [another one of the volatile organic compounds found in the Camp Lejeune water system] and non-Hodgkin lymphoma and “there is considerable support for the notion that it is biologically plausible for benzene to cause human lymphatic tumours.”

Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma Signs & Symptoms

Signs and symptoms of non-hodgkin lymphoma can include:

  • Enlarged lymph nodes
  • Swollen lymph nodes in neck
