If you are the parent or guardian of a baby or infant child who died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, you may be entitled to recover compensation from a SIDS lawsuit or settlement.
A team of products liability injury lawyers and class action attorneys is investigating claims of parents and guardians whose infant child or baby died from Sudden Infant Death Syndrom (“SIDS”) in an inclined infant sleeper or other baby sleeping product.
SIDS (also sometimes called crib death or cot death) is a subgroup of what is known as Sudden Unexpected Death Syndrome (SUID or Sudden Unexpected Death in Infancy or SUDI), which has been described as the sudden and unexpected death of a baby less than 1 year old in which the cause was not obvious before investigation.
SUID deaths often happen during sleep or in the baby’s sleep area and includes death from SIDS, accidental suffocation or strangulation in a sleeping environment or unknown causes. Each year, about 3,500 babies in the United States die suddenly and unexpectedly from SIDS/SUID.
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome SIDS Lawsuit Cases
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome SIDS lawsuit and settlement cases potentially being investigated include claims of parents or guardians that their baby died from SIDS or SUID in a baby product such as a:
- crib
- sleeper
- bassinet
- cradle
- hammock
- rocker
- baby sling
- playpen
- high chair
- other baby sleeping product
SIDS risk factors can include a baby’s sleeping environment. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a safe sleep environment that can reduce the risk of SIDS and sleep-related infant deaths, such as supine positioning, use of a firm sleep surface, room-sharing without bed-sharing, and avoidance of soft bedding and overheating.
For example, certain inclined baby sleeper products were recalled due to reports of infant deaths or safety concerns, including the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper and the Kids II Rocking Sleeper.
If your infant child died from SIDS or SUID in an inclined baby sleeper or other baby sleeping product, you may be entitled to compensation from a Sudden Infant Death Syndrome lawsuit or settlement. Contact an injury lawyer to request a free case review
