CPAP Tonsil Cancer Lawsuit: Were You or a Loved One Diagnosed With Tonsil Cancer After Using A Recalled Philips CPAP, BiPAP or Ventilator Machine?

CPAP Tonsil Cancer Lawsuit cases settlement claims

If you or a loved one were diagnosed with tonsil cancer after using or being treated with a recalled Philips CPAP, BiPAP or ventilator machine, you may be entitled to recover compensation from a CPAP tonsil cancer lawsuit case or settlement claim.

A team of medical device injury lawyers and class action attorneys is investigating potential lawsuit cases and settlement claims of individuals who were diagnosed with tonsil cancer after using or being treated with a recalled Philips CPAP, BiPap or ventilator machine.

Tonsil cancer is a type of oropharyngeal cancer (head and neck cancers that affect the mouth and throat) that develops when cells in the tonsils become malignant or abnormal and begin to grow out of control.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, there is 1 in 60 chance that males will be diagnosed with tonsil cancer in their lifetime and a 1 in 140 chance that females will be diagnosed with tonsil cancer in their lifetime.

CPAP Tonsil Cancer Lawsuit Cases

CPAP tonsil cancer lawsuit cases and settlement claims potentially being investigated include claims of individuals who, after using a recalled Philips C-PAP, BiPAP or ventilator machine, were diagnosed with tonsil cancer, including the following, among others:

  • Tonsil cancer
  • Squamous cell carcinoma of tonsils
  • Tonsillar cancer
  • Tonsil tumor
  • Tonsil lesion
  • Other types of mouth or oral cancer
  • Other types of cancer lawsuits

In June of 2021, the FDA provided a safety notice regarding the issuance of a recall of certain Philips ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP machines (including, among others, DreamStation, and REMstar CPAP devices) due to potential health concerns, such as the possible toxic and carcinogenic effects of polyester-based polyurethane sound abatement foam in the recalled machines that may degrade and/or off-gas.

Tonsil Cancer Injury Claims

Tonsil cancer is the most common type of oropharyngeal cancer, compromising about 23 percent of all oropharyngeal cancers. The most common form of tonsil cancer is squamous cell carcinoma (a form of tonsil cancer that develops from squamous cells in the mucous layer of the tonsil). Rarer forms of tonsil cancer can include primary tonsillar lymphoma and small cell carcinoma of the tonsil.

Although the throat has three types of tonsils (i.e., pharyngeal tonsil or adenoids at the back of the throat, palatine tonsils on the sides of the throat, and lingual tonsils at the base of the tongue), most tonsil cancers involve the palatine tonsils on the sides of the throat.
